I recently bought more Maybelline products and I realized that I had enough to do a full makeup look. Some products I love and some I'm very "eh" about. I don't have a powder or blush from Maybelline though. I don't like powdering anymore and I rarely wear blush.
Maybelline is usually my go-to brand for mascaras, but I've started to really love their foundations. The two I've tried makes my skin look so nice and they're also very easy to use in a rush in the mornings.
The look I have above is a very no-makeup makeup look. I have a wash of color on my lids and color was also added into my face with a plummy mauve lipstick.
I'm going to talk about the products I used for the look above, but I'm also going to touch on some other products I have tried from Maybelline.
Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser is a primer that is supposed to help lessen the appearance of pores. I find that you have to be very careful in using this sometimes because having too much can make the face feel slippery. It helps foundation slide on, but the slip can stay and then make the foundation slide off.
Dream Smooth Mousse Foundation in #240 Natural Beige (review here) gives me such a nice finish on my skin. I like a more natural / satin finish. My skin is more on the dry side and so I like the added moisture from this foundation too.
Volum' Express The Rocket Waterproof Mascara in Very Black (review here) gives me defined lashes but also volume. It lasts all day and keeps my curl. I've repurchased this mascara multiple times and I also have a backup too. It's one of my favorite mascaras to use and it's a great "base" for other mascaras that don't hold my curl.
Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze is a product I don't love from Maybelline. After the first month or so, I saw the product pulling from the edges and drying up. It's a very shimmery taupey bronze color and makes everything on top super shimmery too. I'm still going to use it since it is a quick color to put all over the lids, but I much prefer other cream eye shadows.
Color Sensational Matte Lipstick in #660 Touch of Spice is a recent addition to my collection and I'm still testing it out. It is completely matte and so creamy. I had another lipstick from Maybelline that you can read about here and I hated it. The color was so patchy and made my lips so dry. Touch of Spice is a plummy mauve color that works great as a MLBB for me.
Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara in Dark Brown is the other recent addition and I quite like it. It adds hold and a natural tint to my brows. I've been using other brow products that give me darker and defined brows, but I wanted to take a step back. This is exactly what i wanted right now. It doesn't seem to do much in the pictures above, but there is a difference because my brows look so naturally groomed after using it.
Keep reading to see other Maybelline products I've tried !
Baby Lips in Cherry Me is a bright red tinted lip balm and it was an "eh" product. It didn't have enough moisture for me, but it did add a nice light tint of color on my lips. I would keep it in my bag to liven up my lips, but after my lip reaction, I just threw it away and didn't even think about repurchasing it.
Falsies Black Drama Waterproof Mascara in Black Drama has a scoop wand and it's supposed to make applying mascara on easier, but it didn't give me enough volume like some of their other mascaras.
Volum' Express The Falsies Big Eyes Waterproof Mascara in Very Black (review here) was more work than needed. I liked the bottom lash wand because it applied the mascara on so nicely without smearing, but the top lash wand didn't apply enough mascara for me.
Fit Me! Shine-Free Stick Foundation in #220 Natural Beige (review here) is one of my favorite foundations because it's so easy to use / apply and also looks nice on the skin. It does cling onto some dry patches and has a more matte finish. It doesn't give me a completely matte finish right now since the summer heat has been making my face sweat so much.
Lash Stiletto Voluptuous Waterproof Mascara in Very Black (review here) is a mascara I remember liking, but I've used other mascaras now that this one was just forgotten. It did give me defined and lengthened lashes, but the L'oreal Telescopic Extensions Waterproof Mascara overshadows the Lash Stiletto Mascara by so much that I'm not going to buy this one anymore.
Expert Wear Eyeshadow Single in Pink Wink (review here) is a duochrome pink eyeshadow with gold shimmer. I really wanted to love this, but there was fall out and it's chunky so I don't like using it. I need to use a sticky base with it to like how it looks too.
Instant Rewind Eraser Dark Circles in #130 Medium (review here) is a great under eye concealer, but not a good enough color match for me. I ended up getting another shade that was more yellow, but it was too light. I would mix it in with Medium, but I usually don't wear concealer because I'm lazy so mixing shades just for concealer. It is really good for those who want to just use concealer though.
This was an unexpectedly long post. I didn't realize how many Maybelline products that I've tried. They have some great products, but it seems like the more hyped products are the ones I don't like. I'm such a fan of some of their mascaras and now their foundations. After looking back at some of the products I've tried, I'm more excited about this brand.
What are your favorite Maybelline products?
I personally have loved lots of their mascaras! The foundation versions sold here tend to be not long wearing and have very few shades so I don't think too highly of them. I love their lipsticks and their mascaras most...otherwise I also love their lipbalms and a few of their color tattoos!
ReplyDeleteMaybelline keeps bringing out such good mascaras! I think they recently had a long wearing foundation released, but I have only seen it in UK blogs. I want to see what other foundations they have, but drugstore foundations are harder for me to color match.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a good idea to focus on one brand! :D The expert wear eyeshadow has such a pretty color...too bad it didn't work out.

I was inspired by Essiebutton's and Emilynoel83/ Beauty Broadcast's videos and blog posts with one brands and since I had enough products to do it for Maybelline, I decided to do it too!
ReplyDeleteand I wish the eye shadow could've been better, but it is so pretty.

ReplyDeleteThank you! You're so sweet! I don't think I'm that established though, but I'll check out your blog!
ReplyDeleteI definitely do not have the money to do this all the time and so I was surprised that I had enough Maybelline in my collection to do this. It's making me tempted to do more of them, but that's such an investment.
ReplyDeleteI think I might've had a bad one because all the other bloggers love theirs :( It discouraged me from trying out more for now too.
