Review & Swatches: Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in #54 Beige

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation claims to leave the skin radiant and flawless for up to 16 hours. The formula some "fruit therapy" to add radiance, hydration for 8 hours, and protection to keep the skin looking youthful. The shade I got was #54 Beige and it is a touch lighter than my skin, but has the perfect amount of yellow in it. For reference, I'm about a MAC NC35 / Makeup Forever HD Foundation in #127 / Maybelline Foundations in Natural Beige. It contains 1 fluid ounce and since I got it from Asos.com, it was $18.95.

Hao Are You? #9 // New Schedule, Makeup, and Piercings!!

The lighting is making my hair and skin look so incredibly off

Schedule!
I'm going to change my schedule by a day and start posting on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and maybe Saturdays. I usually try to keep the update posts and non-makeup related posts for weekends, but I didn't have time. I spent all yesterday re-doing my resume and I forgot how stressful it is! I finished for now and so I'm feeling a lot happier.

I tend to procrastinate and my course load this quarter is very text based and so I'm going to spend a lot of my weekend studying / catching up. I wanted to give myself another day to put up a post instead of sleepily writing one on Sunday night instead. I'm posting this on a Monday so that I can still post something else on Tuesday. I love my blog, but I might be neglectful for awhile since school is my priority right now.

Makeup!
In the above two pictures, I was texting out new makeup but these are the reject photos. The left one was actually just a selfie I wanted to send to my friends. The one on the right wasn't showing the blush and eyeshadow colors correctly and I couldn't color correct them, but I still wanted to post both of these somewhere. I started winging out my eyeshadow recently and I really like how it looks. I would put a color in my crease and extend it to make more of a point. Because of this, I haven't been adding any product besides mascara on my lower lashline area.

Some of the new products I was testing out in the above (and below) pictures are SugarPill Sparkle Baby Palette, Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadow in Grandstand, and ColourPop Lippie Stix. The ColorPop Lippie Stix are showing up beautifully on my lips, but horrible in photos though and it's annoying me so much. I got Bull Chic and it looks so patchy and uneven in pictures enough though it looks super opaque and amazing in real life.

Piercing!

I went to the mall with my roommate recently and I got some new earrings. I also get a third lobe piercing!! I just got it at Claire's because there was a discount on piercings. I also do buy a lot of earrings from them though because they're one of the few places where my sensitive ears don't react negatively to. I got the KatyCat earrings from the Katy Perry collection and I think they're so cute!

Food!

I also had to include some food pictures! I went on a date with my boyfriend and we got Red Robins... Yum! I can't help but hear the jingle whenever I say the name too. I've mentioned it before, but I upgraded my phone and I'm so in love with the picture quality. Way less grainy than my iPhone 4.

How have you been?
I love hearing updates! (:

Review & Swatches: Mally Beauty Bulletproof Essentials Starter Kit

The Mally Beauty Bulletproof Essentials Start Kit features 5 products from their line and retails for $49 but has a $120 value. Everything except the Face Defender is full sized, but the kit's version is 0.41 ounces vs. the full sized's version 0.46 ounces. I already reviewed the face defender here, but the only difference is the size and packaging. I much refer this kit's version because it's more compact and there's room for a sponge too.

Mini Target Haul! & Quick Updates

I went to Target the other day to forget about going back to school for a little bit. I saw some new products (the lipsticks!!) and it was hard to resist buying more. I also wanted to try the Wet 'n' Wild Take On The Day primer because everyone I talked to said this primer was amazing. I've tried all of the products right when I got them, but I'm still doing some wear tests.

& now onto the products!!

Maybelline ColorSensational Rebel Bloom Lipstick in Rose Rush - In the tube, the color looks like just another red. I had a post bashing a Maybelline lipstick, but then my perception of them changed after getting Touch of Spice. The color for Rose Rush is a warm red that sometimes looks pinky and sometimes looks orangey. It's bright, but it's still wearable.

CoverGirl Colorlicious Lipstick in Delicious - This color looked so unique in the tube. It looks like a medium mauve purple, but swatches differently on my lips. It becomes more pale and lavender like. It is definitely not my color, but looks better when mixed in with darker shades. I'm still testing it out, but it is currently a regret.

Wet n Wild Fergie Take On The Day Eyeshadow Primer - I asked some people on reddit for a new primer recommendation and the top two were this primer and the NARS one. I wasn't going to drop ~$20 on a new primer and so I decided to just try out the Wet n Wild one.

Wet n Wild Fergie Shimmer Palette in Rosé Champagne Glow is exactly how it is described. It's a perfect balance of rose gold and champagne. It's not as fine milled as some other highlighters, but I'm still playing around with it. It is extremely gorgeous though.

Simple Cleansing Micellar Water - Cleansing waters have been extremely popular for the past few years starting from Bioderma. I'm in the States and Bioderma is really expensive to get here. The Body Shop has a makeup remover that I love that is pretty much like a cleansing water, but I wanted to try a specifically named "cleansing water." Simple is a more natural brand that targets sensitive skin, and so I wasn't sure if it would work that well. I tried it and it's not the best for taking off all of my makeup, but it does help take off the bulk of it.

Read on for my life update, but feel free to stop here since I'll be done talking about beauty. Leave a comment below telling me what product you want me to review first!

I also have a review on the Mally Bulletproof Essentials Starter Kit coming up soon. I just need to write it up, but the pictures are all done.

Tag: What I Am Grateful

Another tag! :D Jenny from itsmeeejennyy tagged me to do this tag and since it's the new year, I decided to do it to give some thanks and acknowledge what I'm grateful for during 2014.

First and foremost, thank you Jenny for tagging me! I'm really glad I've gotten to a point where other bloggers have started to tag me to do certain posts (: Jenny always takes out time in her day to read / comment on my posts and I'm so grateful for that. A year ago, barely anyone was really reading my blog and now I have something like a blogging friend.

& now onto the tag!!

2014 was pretty hectic for me. It was the end of my 3rd and beginning of my 4th year at college. I moved apartments practically by myself and started some new chapters in my life. I got not only one, but two jobs and I joined a lab to research working memory and cognitive development. When I look back on 2014, it's clear that I had a lot of things and people that helped me through all of it!

1. Family
Obviously, without my parents I wouldn't be here. They help me a lot and I know I could always call them. My sister and I are very close and I know I could always go to her for advice. Now that I'm almost done with school, more anxiety and panic has set in about my future and my sister has been there to help me through it all. By the way, Happy Birthday Sistaaaaah.

2. My boyfriend
I have known my boyfriend since kindergarten and we got together after senior year of high school (18 years old). He's been my best friend all throughout those years and I couldn't imagine a life without him. I am so incredibly grateful for him because he's the reason why I'm happy and can be happy. It wasn't like I was really sad before I started dating him, but I was so apathetic about everything that nothing mattered to me. He encourages and supports me in everything and I'm going to stop being cheesy right now before someone pukes.

3. My biffle
I intentionally keep names vague, by the way. It was my decision to put myself on the internet like this and I didn't want to name my best friend's name in case it causes problems for her. She has a pretty unique name and it makes me laugh. (: My biffle and I had some bumps a long the way, but I've always told her that I'm so grateful that she was the one to patch things up after our big fight after middle school ended. We went to different high schools and we could have just not talked to each other, but because of her, I still have a very close and wonderful friend that I can share everything with.

4. "Other" friends
I have some other close friends, but if I gave them all individual spots this blog post would be way more than 10. I still have some other things to list out! Most of my friends are those who I have met either in middle school or beginning of high school. I find it somewhat hard for me to make a lot of new and long lasting friendships. As someone describes, I'm a bit of homebody. I don't like to go out and do "normal" early 20 year old things including partying and drinking because I get extremely nervous and anxious about being around strangers. The friends that I'm close to understand that and always put my comfort in their planning. I always have great talks and even really dumb talks with my friends, but they're always fun. I can really imagine myself keeping contact with my core group of friends for the rest of my life.

Just a heads up, but the next few things are definitely not as serious!

5. Food
Food is a necessity, but oh gosh. I love food and I'm grateful for the delicious things that we can taste and eat. There's always something good to eat to match or even enhance my mood. When I go on dates for special events with my boyfriend, we choose fancier places and each time I get so impressed how food can taste so good.

6. Makeup
My blog is mostly all about makeup and it's something that I just really love. During my nasty breakout a few months ago, I hated my skin and how I looked. I just felt terrible looking into mirrors and I would feel pain on my face just by moving it. In hindsight, there are other people with worse acne but this was the worst my skin had ever been. Foundation, concealer, and just bright and distracting lipsticks or eye looks helped me so much with my confidence. I strongly believe that a woman doesn't have to wear makeup to be beautiful, but I'm so grateful that it is there to help me when I don't feel beautiful. I also love how a colored lip just makes my mood get better in general.

7. Internet
This is an "of course!" kind of thing. Without the internet, I wouldn't be able to blog or keep in contact with people. I rely on the internet so much and I'm so glad that I was born into the age of the internet.

8. Music
I played violin for about 7 years and I regret not continuing while in high school. It helped me enjoy music in general a lot more because I knew how much work was put into creating it. I tried to learn guitar too, but something was off with one of the pieces and so it never sounded right. I also never got it fixed so.... it was my fault. I also relied on a lot of angsty rock and emo music in middle school because I thought no one understood. I was suuuuuuch an "emo" and wannabe scene kid during that period of my life. It's embarrassing to look back onto it, but that music scene will always be my favorite. I still listen to "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)" by My Chemical Romance when I'm sad/mad about something.

9. School / Education
This is such a "nerdy" thing, but I do enjoy learning more in general. I tend to stray away from STEM topics because it's too technical for me. I like chemistry and stuff, but I don't have enough background in those areas to even be able to start reading publications. I have to rely on summaries for that. What I mostly study right now is culture and the field I'm thinking about joining is medical anthropology. It's really fascinating learning about all these cultures and it's opened my eyes to new understandings so that I wouldn't be so ethnocentric. I like learning, but school itself with standardized exams and stuff just ruins it for me sometimes.

10. The Readers / Commenters on my blog
Without you, I wouldn't be able to keep on doing this. I used to get one or two comments a month at most, but now there's comments on almost every blog post. I don't know if you noticed, but I use "you" instead of general "you all" when I refer to those who read my blog. I feel like it's much more personal and it helps me visualize talking to a person instead of the general internet. So thank you, whoever you are, for staying with me. I'm eternally grateful for your help and support.

I hope you had a happy new year!
