Review & Swatches: Lime Crime Eyeliner in Blue Milk

Lime Crime Eyeliner in Blue Milk is described as a pale sky blue, but it's brighter than the pastel blue I was expecting. Lime Crime claims that their eyeliners are pigmented with a smudge-free formula. It contains 1.3 mL / 0.04 fl. oz. and retails for $14.

The color was brighter than what I was expected, but oh man. It is such a beautiful blue that makes such a wonderful pop of color. When I wore it at Ulta, I got so many compliments from people of all ages.

Unfortunately, I had to layer it a few times to get this opacity. It took work to get the color even, but once it's on, it stayed on. I did not see any fading or smudging at all and it was super easy to remove with a bit of soap.

The eyeliner has a brush applicator, but it isn't a precision brush like Lime Crime claims. I found myself having to use a cotton bud and oil-free makeup remover to clean up the wing to make it sharper. The bottom eyeliner that I'm comparing the Lime Crime eye liner to is the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner and you can see that the Stila liner is a lot thinner.

In the two above pictures, I didn't touch up the liner (and mascara smudges. I regret not cleaning that up before taking pictures) and that was the thinnest I could do. I like having the option of being able to do a really thin or thick line, and so the brush annoys me but not enough for me to hate it. I also don't mind a thicker line for colored eye liners.

Final thoughts: The formula isn't my favorite and so I can't fully recommend it. On one hand, it stays on all day and the color is so beautiful. I want this color for everything I have. On the other hand, you have to layer it up to get an even color and it's hard to get a very precise line because of the brush. I love the color to a point where I'm willing to get another brush just to get the wings perfectly sharp and so I don't mind the current applicator. For my personal use, I really like it and will repurchase but it has cons that are dealbreakers for people.

What are your favorite colored liners?

  3. The colour looks absolutely gorgeous! Would love to see what cheeks and lips you paired it with :).

It's a shame the formula is so fussy. That's a definite deal breaker for me and I know I'd never end up wearing it. Thanks for the honesty!

  4. I actually wore Lime Crime's Black Velvet and Hourglass's Blush in Mood Exposure for the bottom eye look! I already looked more out there with the blue liner so I thought might as well put on a darker blush and the darkest lipstick ever hahaha

I've read other raving reviews on the eyeliner and so i don't know if I just got a bad one, but I feel like the formula could've been better for the price.

  8. Yeah, it's so unfortunate that mine was like that :( I think I've just been spoiled by pen style liners

  9. Lime Crime is so hard to get :( Even though they're popular, I think they're still a small company? Hopefully they figure things out and are able to expand and ship to more places.

  14. OMG, this is freaking stunning! I've been lusting after their white one actually! I love how their shades are sooo bright and so opaque! I love the thought of layering a slick of this over my regular black winged liner! I love cobalt blue for colored liners!

  16. I love the color! I really like Revlon's Colorstay Skinny Liner in Electric Blue and I feel like that would be easier to wear since it's a darker shade of blue.
