Review & Swatches: Benefit Gimme Brow in Light/Medium

Benefit Gimme Brow in Light/Medium is a brow gel with fibers that adhere to both the skin and hair. Gimme Brow only comes in two shades and Light/Medium is the lightest shade. It is a light taupey brown shade, but it can be built up to be darker. It contains 0.1 ounces and retails for $22.

These are my bare brows. I took these pictures when my hair was blonde and so my brow hairs were slightly lightened to match. My hairs are long and they tend to droop down. There are some sparse areas, but it's not too bad. I just like to fill them in a bit to make them look fuller.

As you can see, the gel also adhered to my skin to gave my brows a "base color" to make them look not as sparse. The actual hairs became a bit lighter and cool toned. My personal preference is cooler toned brows and so this color was perfect for me.

For some, this is just enough for some people but I like to pair this up on top of a brow pencil. I do use it just like this on my lazy or quick face days. The gel holds my hair very well and the color didn't flake or look patchy even at the end of the day.

The brush is very small and is so great. It helps create precise shapes for any brow size. The other brow gel I tried by Maybelline had a weird ball brush that was way too big, but the Benefit brush is so much better.

The complaints are small, but they are something to think about. It is incredibly small and for $22, it hurt so much to initially buy it. There's also a strong chemical smell too it. It's not such a big problem because I'm putting it on my brows and away from my nose, but it really surprised me the first time I opened the tube.

Final thoughts: The first time I used this, I completely understood the hype. I would never have bought it if I didn't had a discount, but I'm really glad I did. I'm going to keep looking for a dupe, but it is a really great brow gel. It adds thickness to your brows and has such great color pigmentation. Gimme Brow also holds the brow hairs in place really well. Benefit really needs to expand on the color selection though because Light/Medium and Medium/Deep is definitely not going to fit everyone. I'm not sure if at this point that I will repurchase because I don't use brow gel every day, but I will certainly cherish this amazing product until it's gone.

  1. I love Gimme Brow! I have it in the darker shade and I'm very happy with it. The tiny brush is perfect for eyebrows - I've seen so many 'brow' products that have a full-sized mascara brush and it really frustrates me. Like how are you supposed to get a clean tidy brow when you try to use something the size of a small pinecone on them?!?!

  3. Thank you! These pictures were when my hair was a super light blonde and so I loved that natural brow look since my brow hairs are naturally super dark.

  4. Right?! I hate that most brow gel / mascara products have such huge wands. I think I would be more inclined to keep on buying Gimme Brow if I wasn't so in love with the Anastasia Brow Wiz though.

  5. I have heard amazing things about the Benefit Gimme Brow, would def love to try it sometimes :) I love the small brush, imagine how easy it would be to work around the brows with such a small brush!

  6. If you get the chance, you should! With some other massive wands, I have to be so careful not to smudge it onto my skin. It gets really annoying in the mornings when my eyes are barely open.

  7. I want to try this, but Idk if it will match my hair. Most brow products are very warm toned, and the only cool toned brow products are the lighter shades.

  8. My hair is naturally a very warm brown, but I hate putting warm tones in my brows!! They always look too red. Whenever I look at the darker Gimme Brow in stores, it looks pretty neutral.

  10. Right?! C'mon, Benefit!!! I'm hoping the new L'oreal brow gels that also have fibers come close to the Benefit version so that I don't have to spend as much money on it.

  11. Oh I'm glad to hear and see that this works very well for you! The Maybelline one actually is perfect for me but I have to be careful because even with a super light hand the ball can put too much product on! I tend to use mine to set my brows after putting powder first though, the color application is a bit too uneven by itself! I love the shape of the wand, I can totally see how it's easy to use for any type of brow shape!

  12. I still use the Maybelline one because the hold is good, but the uneven color application bothers me when used alone. Now that my hair is always changing, it's nice to have tinted gel products to help change the tone of my brows though.
