Lip Trend: (Horizontal) Ombre Lips

There are different kinds of ombre lips, but this is the version that I like doing the best. It makes the lips look more plump and pouty. This post is a demonstration of how I do it and I just used the colors in my collection. Feel free to use any 2-3 lipsticks in your collection.

Dark colors aren't always everyday friendly, but I still like to wear them. Doing lip ombres like this allow me to wear dark colors, but they aren't as dramatic.

For the lightest color, I made sure to use a kind of glossy color because the shine helps with the illusion of fuller lips. Lip gloss could even be added to the very center of the lips to draw in even more light.

For the first color grouping, I chose red to pink. MAC Viva Glam I is a very dark matte brick red, Clinique Mightiest Maraschino is a bright red, and MAC See Sheer is a pinky-coral red. See Sheer is pinker when used lightly and redder if layered on.

I start by using Mightiest Maraschino so I can guide how much I want of Viva Glam I and See Sheer.

Then I use Viva Glam I on the outer corners of my lips. I pat on some more color where this and Mightiest Maraschino meet so that it creates a more seamless transition.

Lastly, I put the See Sheer on the center of my lips. Super easy!

In this picture, you can see the transition better.

I chose a purpley/plum to fuchsia pink ombre for the next set. The darkest color is Revlon's Black Cherry and it is a vampy plummy red color. The middle color is Rimmel London's 09 and it is a raspberry color. The lightest color is YSL's 5 Fuchsia in Excess and it is a bright fuchsia pink color.

    1. Thanks, Quinn! I love seeing the more bright and wild colors for ombre lips, but I wanted to make it more subtle so that it looked more appropriate for everyday kind of makeup.

Oh! and I read your "about" section and saw that you're studying things about nerves and meninges. That's so cool! I've been taking some cognitive & neuroscience classes in school and learning about the brain is one of my favorite topics.
