(Too Much) Travel Makeup

For the past 3ish weeks, I've been home in the Bay Area and then went to San Diego for a couple of days to see my sister. I was going to be away fro my whole collection for a while and so I packed more than I usually would, but I ended up overpacking on the amount of makeup! I was behind on posts and so I did bring some stuff home just to test for future posts. I also bought things while at home, but I didn't include them in this post.

At the end of the post, I'm also going to show the things I actually ended up using. It's wayyy less than the amount I did bring. Whoops!

Instead of 33 products, I mostly only used 14! I don't know what I was thinking when I brought 2 foundations in and 2 concealers. I normally only bring a contact lens container with a few pumps of foundation and maybe 2 pumps of the MAC concealer. Since I was being more relaxed on vacation, I didn't really care about making my face flawless and I really should've only brought one foundation.

The Unzipped palette and the bronzey eyeshadow stick from Mally was really all I needed for colored eye products. I also don't wear blush that often and I didn't even bring the brush I use with blush - why did I bring two blushes though?! Bronzer and the pinky highlighter was definitely all I needed.

I was given the Benefit Fakeup concealer recently and I actually quite like it under the eye area. I do need to set it because the formula is so creamy, but it works so well for my dry and fragile skin under my eyes. The Tarte face primer was also so amazing to use. It really gave my skin a more smooth appearance like Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch, but felt thinner.

I'm going back to the Bay Area in a month for a wedding and creating this post really helped me figure out what I need to bring. It's only going to be for a weekend, and so I definitely want to narrow down the products and tools down to fit it into the Charlotte Tilbury bag I used for this post.

What are your must have travel products? Also, what products do you like for wedding guest looks? I need some inspiration!

* These deluxe samples were given to me by former co-workers to try out and play with.

  1. A lot of minis are what I consider my travel essentials. And brushless makeup (like sticks). Though I do carry around some full sized products and one brush since I really can't live without it (the elf flawless concealer brush makes blending in concealer sooooo easy).

  2. I also bring too many brushes.... ahahha I love the Elf Concealer brush! I use it to blend out my eyeshadow and apply translucent powder under my eyes. I love the ELF studio brushes <3

  3. Hah! Looks like I'm definitely not the only one who brought double of things that I DEFINITELY DID NOT NEED TWO OF when traveling! I only finally realized this after my last 3 trips which all were 1-2 weeks long but somehow I brought too much both times and now realize! I'm just so used to having all that choice at home, do you feel that way? It's not that I don't trust that one product wouldn't be good enough but I like having choice! I used to wear that missha bb in 27 when I was at my darkest! It's now wayyyyy too dark for me! I do keep it as it's an awesome mixer!

My must have travel products would include my pressed za powder, super waterproof mascara from kiss me heroine, lip balms and a gel eyeliner! I'm heading off to Bali for a beach holiday in a weeks time so I'll be trying my best to keep my make up bag to a minimum! Just the waterproof essentials! As for wedding guest looks...hmmm I haven't attending any wedding in years but I think shimmery/satin pinks, rose golds and beiges are what I think of for eyes at least! :p

  4. Haha don't worry, it's so hard for me too to pack my makeup for travel! I usually wear different makeup each day, so the idea of wearing the same palette everyday on vacation is so difficult!

  5. I also feel that way! I wanted to bring my whole collection with me so that I could do whatever look I wanted. I was missing my z-palettes filled with all of my blushes and eyeshadows so badly ;(

Bali sounds so fun! I don't really go anywhere outside of California and so I'll be living through your blog posts <3

  6. The palette definitely had enough, but it still didn't feel like enough for me because I like trying out different looks every day! My makeup collection is weirdly the thing I miss the most when I leave my apartment

  7. Aren't girls always like that? We pack too much stuff for every occasion lol But when I travel to hot and humid countries, I don't take a lot of makeup stuff with me.
Do you do the same thing? :)

  8. My boyfriend has a tendency to overpack clothes... and I overpack on makeup :D hahahaha For hot and humid places, I choose a lot of longwear products instead because I'm terrible hahahah jk.
