The Rosey Nude Blush Battle!! ft. NARS Douceur, Milani Romantic Rose, and Tarte Exposed

For full reviews of NARS Blush in Douceur and Milani Rose Powder Blush in Romantic Rose, click here and here respectively. Douceur has sadly been discontinued and since Exposed has often been tooted for a close dupe, I wanted to make a comparison post. I also initially wanted to include Benefit Rockateur as well, but that is way too pink and Romantic Rose is already verging on too pink compared to Douceur. I would also say that Rockateur is a nudey rose blush instead of a rosey nude blush if that makes sense.

COLOR: All three blushes are muted natural rosey brown shades, but have varying tones of rose to them. I would say Douceur has the most brown/plum to it. Exposed is more pinky with Romantic Rose being the most pink. In the pan, Romantic Rose also looks a lot more brown/nude and then swatches more pink. Douceur also turns a bit more pink when swatches and Exposed is true to pan.

TEXTURE: Romantic Rose is the softest and most pigmented initially out of the three blushes. Douceur is harder and more sheer, but it helps build up the color nicely to the desired opacity. Exposed is the hardest out of the three and it's so hard to get any pigment out of it. The only reason I was able to hit pan is because I needed to use so much of it to get even a bit of color on my face. I've tried every brush in my collection and the end result has always been meh for me. I sometimes use it as a base blush color for similar shades to make it last longer though.

LONGEVITY: Once I get some color from Exposed on my face, it does last a long time. They have a 12 hour long-wear claim and so that makes sense. The other two blushes also last a long time on my cheeks, but they might fade a tiny bit sooner than Exposed.

Personally, I love Douceur and Romantic Rose a lot more than Exposed but Douceur has now been discontinued. Romantic Rose isn't a 100% dupe of Douceur, but it is a nice pinkier version of it. If you're interested in Exposed, I would recommend Romantic Rose over it instead because the texture and pigmentation is better.

Which one is your favorite? Do you like rosey nude blushes?

  1. Bummer to hear that about Exposed! Is the texture of all Tarte blushes like that? Or is it an exception?
I think I'll end up picking up one of those Milani blushes eventually. Interesting to hear it's better than the Tarte blush. Good case of showing high end isn't necessarily better.

  2. CREYS. HAO WHY U DO THIS.
I love Exposed but do agree that you really need to dig into it to get any colour. I do like the subtle contouring effect of it though. I LOVE the look of Douceur, want it so bad :'( It looks like such a nice browney-pink.

  3. I had Tipsy for a while and it did feel as hard. I didn't keep it long enough to see if it gets better after that top layer though. A lot of people have had great experiences with the Tarte blushes, but they're so meh to me.

  4. I want everyone to be a makeup hoarder like meeeeee hahahaha I'm so mad that Douceur got discontinued. I know it's been people's favorite for a very long time and so I'm surprised that it disappeared as quietly as it did

  5. So sad that Doucer isn't available anymore. I really like Exposed actually, I do agree that it's a "hard" blush but it makes it easier not to overdo it!

  6. That's definitely a pro! I was just disappointed because everyone raved about it so much and even said it was pigmented, but not so much on my NC35 skin :( It is pretty once I get it on my skin though.

  9. Yes, I can see how that would be. When I'm very pale in the winter then it can come across too warm and too brown on me, so there's definitely a small set of people that Exposed suits perfectly.

  10. I like Exposed ^^ I own non of these colors though; but I've always wanted to try Tarte products!

  11. Exposed is a beautiful color! I feel like the product itself works better with paler skin tones compared to mine.

I'm not a super huge fan of Tarte blushes, but their lipsticks, amazonian clay pressed and loose finishing powders, and timeless smoothing primer is amazing. I've also tried their powder foundation and it's great, but I just couldn't find a color match for myself.

  12. I LOVE....I mean L-O-V-E rose nude type blushes! My collection is basically 50% rose, 30% nude, 20% peaches 10% other in terms of blush colors! I would totally pick romantic rose as the winner of the three, although I've been dying for ages to try exposed as it's sooooo sought after and loved across the board!

  13. Personally, I would try to find Romantic Rose instead of Exposed. But you're lighter than me and so I think it would work a lot better on your skin tone though!

I only started using blush and I mostly have rose and plum colors. I had some oranges, but I realized they were a bit too much for me considering I never wore blush when I had them hahaha

  14. That's so great that you're getting into blushes! For the longest time, believe it or not I didn't like blush. I thought it was only something my mother would wear but boy was I wrong!

  15. You look great in every blush picture you show though!

  16. Douceur is my favourite of the bunch and I AM SO SAD THAT IT'S DISCONTINUED BECAUSE IT'S BEEN ON MY 'TO-BUY' LIST FOR A LONG WHILE NOW :(
Tarte's blushes confuses me sometimes because the singles are brick hard, but the ones in their blush palettes are frickin' soft/buttery/kick up a lot of powder. BUT ANYWAYS, kinda happy that you've hit pan on Exposed because it gives me hope that I'll be able to use up my Tarte blushes faster than expected :')
