Review & Swatches: Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita (February 2015 Version)

Liquid lipsticks have been all the rage lately and Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks have probably been one of the more popular ranges. The shade I'll be reviewing is Lolita, but is the February 2015 version of the color. It was reformulated 2-3 times, but still continues to be one of the more popular colors and is always out of stock. Lolita is described as "dusty rose" and retails for $20.

Instead of a dusty rose, the formula I got was more brown and sometimes has a tan tint to it. Even so, it's really wearable on every skin tone.

The packaging is a slim tube and has a doe foot applicator. It's small and stiff though and it really helps to apply the color precisely.

Bare lips

One layer

It dries down to a matte finish and is slightly drying like most matte liquid lipsticks. Weirdly, it feels a tiny bit tacky and so I usually avoid pressing my lips. The color doesn't transfer or become patchy though. I just avoid doing it because I don't like how it feels.

Like Kat Von D claims, the liquid lipsticks are long lasting with full coverage. I've worn it for hours through food and drinking (very unlike me) and it has stayed perfect. The same dryness that I felt at the initial application stayed throughout the day, but I didn't find that it felt any dryer later on.

Final thoughts: Lolita's color keeps changing and so I'm not sure if you'll receive the same one I bought. Even so, I really love the color and wear it all the time as a more natural shade compared to the rest of my collection. There's a slight dry feeling while I wear it and is weirdly tacky compared to other matte liquid lipsticks though. I'm so incredibly impressed with the formula either way and I'm looking forward to the new colors Kat Von D is releasing in the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick line.

  2. Thank you! Lipsticks were one the first steps I took into makeup. I wore red lips a lot without anything else ahhaahha I then slowly went towards mascaras and then colored eyeliners.

I love liquid lipsticks and since they're so popular right now, there's so many brands and options you can choose from! I think MAC is also planning on releasing a liquid lipstick line as well

  3. I hate sticky feeling lips as well, but I'll put up with it if the color is good! This looks like a perfect MLBB shade on you. I was all over these types of colors in winter.

  6. Thank you! It was more orangey than I thought it would be, but apparently the original version is more rosey and is coming back soon as Lolita 2 :D

It's so weird that it feels tacky, but doesn't transfer though.

  7. Awww, thank you! Honestly, I'm kind of lazy to review lip products that look weird on me though hahaha Unless I really don't like them and then I'll put up a ranty post to tell people to stay away

  9. Don't underestimate the power of the ranty post haha. I like reading them! I'm sick of bloggers that have post after post of glowing reviews, it starts to sound insincere after awhile.

  10. This color looks gorgeous on you, even though it is more brown than the original, it still looks like it has a bit of pink tint into it, or maybe it's the lighting? Overall it look so pretty on you! Is this the 3rd version? I had reviewed one last year which was a lot more brown, it was nothing like KVD has described "dusty mauve" and sadly I wasn't a fan, been wondering if the latest version is any good!

  11. Yup, it's the third version!! The first version is coming back as Lolita 2 and I'm so excited. I think this one is supposed to be a bit more pink than the second version.

  12. Oh wow, that color is literally a perfect matte mauve dusty rose! It seems like a much more muted down version of bourjois's rouge velvet in nud-ist which is like this but more rose! I wouldn't pick this one up though as i think it looks way to similar to my natural lip color which is crazy pigmented. I am too often asked what color I'm wearing or if I'm wearing a lipstick but I have nothing on! Interesting that there's a slight tackiness despite being matte in finish, but I have experienced it myself and it did make the matte finish a bit more bearable as time went on.

  13. Your natural lip color IS super gorgeous! I'm so jealous because my lips look so colorless and dead in the morning.

  14. ooooh this is sooo pretty! Hahahaha i feel like a stalker on your blog ^o~
I came looking for the review after reading your monthly favourite! This colour is seriously so pretty, I've really been wanting Jeffree from their liquid lipstick line but this colour has just been added to my wishlist as well! I love how nice and matte this looks on your lips. Have you tried stila liquid lipsticks before? They actually look pretty similar from swatches but they don't have as many natural shades as Kat Von D :'(

  15. It's okay!! I love new followers, especially when they comment because I love talking about makeup <3

I have tried Beso from Stila before and the formula is much more comfortable, but not as transfer/smudge proof as Kat Von D. That being said, the Stila ones are pretty transfer/smudge proof already. I hear some of the Kat Von D shades are pretty drying though!
