Review & Swatches: Life's Entropy Particle Contour Stick in Neutron

Life's Entropy Particle Contour Stick in Neutron is described as a "medium golden brown," but there is some slight greyness to it to create a natural looking shadow. Life's Entropy claims that this is a dupe (but cream version) of Kevyn Aucoin's Sculpting Powder in Medium. I don't have that product to compare this to, but there are comparison swatches on Life's Entropy's Website. There is 5 grams of product and it retails for $8.

The packaging is a pretty standard lip balm tube that's the size of a Chapstick or Blistex tube. It is plastic and the product can be twisted up or down. Each tube comes shrink wrapped and the label feels like a printable sticker. It's not the most luxurious packaging, but it's the perfect size to fit in my contour area. It's compact and practical.

The next few pictures are what really matters - the product.

In the above picture, I only have foundation on (Maybelline Fit Me! Oil-Free Stick Foundation). I was only going to play with makeup and so I didn't want to put on a thick foundation and really perfect it. Like I have said before, I have acne marks and I don't have a concealer I love and so I don't bother covering my marks and blemishes anymore.

On my eyes are some Life's Entropy shadows that I will be talking about soon. As you can see, I applied a stripe under my cheekbone.

I only put on a layer and I blended it out with my fingers. On a normal day, this is enough for me but you couldn't really see the same in person effect and so I put on more.

I concentrated the product more right under the cheekbone again and didn't blend as much. I remember reading somewhere that the contour sticks are best used along with a setting powder and I put on a very light dusting of Tarte's Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder.

To help see the effect better, here's a side by side comparison of my foundation face on the left with 2 layers of the Neutron on the right.

The contour looks very natural and blended. There is a weird light/uneven spot, but that happens with any product I put on that area. Even though I paired this product with a stick foundation, I have also used liquid and powder foundations. In every application, Neutron went on and blended so well. I even sometimes use Neutron as a base for my other bronzer / contour powder products depending on what look I want to do for the day.

Final Thoughts: The eyeshadows from Life's Entropy have been a hit - or - miss for me, but I absolutely love and recommend the Particle Contour Stick in Neutron. This might not work on deep skin tones, but it does work for a large range of people. It can be sheered and blended out or even built up to be darker or more extreme. I'm not saying that you have to get it, but I am saying that you probably need this! It's easy to use and will make a great addition or even start to a contour collection. I'm so tempted to buy Neutrino for a more grey contour and Electron for a more warm and bronzed look now, but I'll have to wait until after I move.

PS - I still have some more shadows / pigments to go through and the Lip Theory. My lighting has been inconsistent because I am busier during the day now and my lips have been acting out again. I've been so displeased with my swatch pictures but I'm trying to make them work. I think I got an allergic reaction to something and I really don't want to put anything on my lips.

  2. You should get the blogger pack too! It's such a great deal. I'm so glad that I decided to get it. I haven't had a lot of time to try out my Lip Theory yet in Big Bang Theory, but it's so pretty.
