#BoycottLimeCrime

If you've been following me for the past few months, I reviewed three Lime Crime items. I had already known that the company was not the most professional, but I thought they had started to get better and that's why I bought those items.

Recently, they were in a credit card fraud scandal. Their website was compromised and many people got their credit card information stolen. I'm not faulting them on that because it could happen to anyone / any company, but the way Lime Crime handled the situation was horrible. The company did not respond fast enough to help their customers and pretty much waited until it became out of hand. They were unapologetic about what happened and continued to treat their customers badly.

If you want to read more about the company, there are many sources you can go to. One of the more extensive sources can be found here.

With that being said, I will no longer be supporting Lime Crime. I will leave the reviews up, but I will need to edit my support of buying their items. Of course, you don't need to go along with me on my boycott. I recommend doing your own research and then making your decision.

  2. II remember reading about all this Limecrime drama years ago and have always remembered it. To this day I have never purchased anything from them!

  3. I've been following this scandal and I'm honestly shocked that a company has had so many since it's start-up. I read somewhere that a PR student was saying one of the older scandals was used in class as how to NOT respond to an issue. Go figure! I've only tried one of their lipsticks which, I did like, but I've never been a fan of how I've seen Doe act towards some of her customers.

  4. Reading all these stories of people having money taken out of their account and how Lime Crime has ruined some of their life is just upsetting! Before I purchased a bunch of Lime Crime products last year, I was aware of the nasty things about Doe Deere, but I thought ya know everyone has a past, it should be no problem, I do admit I love their products, I love Cashmere and I am sad to say I have to let that go (selling my entire collection, I can't just throw away like others do because this collection was very expensive!), I no longer support Lime Crime.

  5. I've been reading up on the Lime Crime scandal and I've read that exact post on tumblr and to be honest that company seems so shady. I mean even the owner had a shady past or at least so say the posts about her and her company. I feel so terrible for those people who had their money stolen and I hope they get all of it back plus extra. I don't know how they managed to exist as a company especially with how the owner treated customers especially ones who didn't agree with her/like lime crime as much as everyone else.... It's shocking really.

I ended up reading a lot about the scandal a few weeks back (hours man, HOURS) and I'm glad I've never bought anything from Lime Crime. As well, heard they were piss poor at handling the situation/damage control, but another company that I discovered today that's making ~headlines~ is ImPress Nails (press on nails) that apparently stole/plagiarized designs off IG nail artists???

I love it when companies burn.

  7. I'm glad you feel this way! For some while already I've know about the founders' past 'scandals' when she was younger and how she evidently misappropriated funds for her own person use when she claimed they were going to a certain charity...that spelled the beginning for a large group of people who have been against her company since the beginning. I've ever only bought one product from them and haven't thought of buying anything else. Especially with how inappropriately and unprofessionally they've handled this most recent issue. You're definitely not the only one who is feeling this way and who is sharing this info! Good for you and let's not purchase anymore from company's with such practices and dishonesty!

  8. That's a great decision! It's really terrible how the whole company handled this situation and hopefully they will get the right punishment!! I pity all the people who had the credit card information stolen! How can someone be so cruel to people who support them and buy their stuff?!?!

  9. Yeah :( I know credit fraud / identity theft does happen, but it's still scary to think about.

  10. I really thought they would get better and was even starting to root for them, but meh. Doe Deere is such a horrible person. I feel like the company could only bounce back if she stepped down and completely distanced herself from the brand.

  11. I hate how Doe treats her customers :(

Limecrime really needs to hire a better PR company and make huge changes if they want to keep going in the beauty industry.

  12. I thought it was getting better too :(

I have three items and might only keep Cashmere. I feel guilty looking at it, but it does work well to mute my bolder lipsticks. I won't feature it anymore on my blog though. I know some other brands have a dupe now and so I might go buy a bunch to try out!

  13. Right?! I was one of the ambivalent people before this big scandal, but I really don't want to support them anymore. I feel like their velvetines were their best product, but soooo many companies have released their own matte liquid lipsticks that are even better.

  14. I haven't heard the ones with Impress Nails! I heard about their products from some Youtubers, but I thought they kind of just dropped off the earth.... hahaha

I feel like other companies are so much more deserving of attention than Limecrime and I'm glad that this scandal is working out so much better for smaller companies.

  15. Yeah! I no longer support them, but a part of me hopes Doe Deere steps down and then Limecrime completely changes their business practices to be better. Some people still love their products, but their brand is so tainted right now.

  16. Ohhh so THAT'S what happened, I was wondering how the hashtag came about... yikes I'd hate to be those people :( And bad customer service is what they really don't need.

  20. I saw this whole issue trending a while ago! Although I've never purchased from Lime Crime before, I was completely shocked!
I was really disappointed on how dishonest they are and what they've done.

  21. Yeah :( I feel like they messed up so badly. They're starting to come back though and so I'm wondering what's going to happen in the future

  22. I regret I bought things from them, but I guess that's a lesson learned! I'm just glad that my information wasn't compromised though.

  23. Yeah :( Fortunately, a lot of brands are coming up with better liquid lipstick formulas! Velvetines are nice, but I'm done with them.

  24. You're welcome! I originally liked them for their packaging and products, but customer service and relations is pretty important to me.
